Holy shit, Halloween/Wintersday events? The same stuff they created 4 years ago and have been reusing ever since. The only thing they need to do for that is create a couple of masks, and considering there's a year between events, its not exactly a tight deadline.

They're attempting to add more than just masks this year:

For now it is announced that the skill updates are coming up in about a week. The Krewe and build contests were closed this week, but we probably won't hear anything from either events until maybe a month or so, depending on how many applications were sent to Anet. Other than the skill updates, there is only the project announcements Regina made a few weeks ago, or earlier. I can't remember exactly when.

Somehow, Ive got the impression that if some pvx bars were sent as is, we will get somewhat piled high and deep... <_<
Aint the focus of this balance gonna be dervs, as they cant do much more than what sins and warrs cant do?
|
Unlikely. The only indications whatsoever that dervs might be in for a makeover sometime in the near future is the fact that rits and paras got one.
The myriad of discussions and suggestions for improving dervs on this forum (many of which I'm guilty of starting or at least adding to) is not evidence of anet's intentions (if any) regarding dervishes. Heck, we don't even know for sure that anet is aware of the profession's problems. So don't get your hopes high.

Well, I'd hope that since Rits and Paras got major updates, some of which were things directly asked for on here, they'd at least notice the call to please do something to fix Dervs.

Oh please please please don't do anything to "fix" dervs and sins. Both classes see more than enough play in both pve and pvp, there's nothing to fix.
Put the resources where they're most needed. Get rid of button-mashing builds that give too much reward for the effort, that means e/me, r/a templates as well as hexes in general. Incidentally sins and dervs generally also fall into this category so dartboard buffs on these classes just add to the problem.
If they can remove HB and TA with the reasoning that resources are better used elsewhere then the same can apply to classes. Get rid of sins and dervs and aim for more balance among the other better designed classes.

what builds for Dervs, besides WS, do you see in PvP? and how many primary dervs/sins do you see in GvG?
Yes they shouldn't do random dartboard buffs to skills, always ends badly, but they should buff Dervs so they can see the light of day again.

You have WS dervs like you say. Not enough? r/a is a sin template, it's got all the characteristics of a sin: mash skills 1-5, maintain or cycle 6-7. Hit 8 when someone on vent informs you that something has unexpectedly died.
Then you have the palm strike template which was popular across all formats. Another very skill-dependent and fun template right there.
Dervs just got a bunch of buffs, AoS seems popular, sand shards sees some play also. You also have a derv healer template that gets some playtime in RA.
No, seriously I can agree with you that primary dervs could get some buffs making them viable as a frontliner. It's just that so far derv(and sin) buffs seem to spawn all sort of other problems on 2ndary professions. Instead of spending X (where X is presumably a high relative number) amount of resources on making dervs and sins playable as frontliners Anet should put the resources into the metagame making it playable and enjoyable once more.

Those two goals are not mutually exclusive. In fact, one of the best ways to shake up the metagame would be to make these professions suddenly useful in it, due to their different gameplay mechanics.
That said, the problems facing the dervish are not as easily fixed as those with the ritualist or paragon (well, unless you use a quick bandaid fix like the ones I've suggested; none of which have garnered much support). It's the kind of thing that really does require a huge rework of the profession's skills. Not just to make them better, mind you, but make them powerful enough to be meaningful (for example, if buffed PBAoEs are inferior to MSDB, then there's still no reason to use them) without being overpowered. It's not the kind of thing that can be rushed out the door without a lot of testing.
This is why I think that if dervs are to get enchantment spam back as a viable mechanic, the most likely way this will take place is through the new Test Krewe (where they will actually have the ability to play with and properly test out the effects of potential fixes and reworks before implementation).

I got a feeling that Illusionary Weaponry will finally be viable, as they've tried to make it reasonable during several balances and failed :|
Used to love the skill, when only proph was out. Now it's just a waste of elite =[

What? Real cash? Are you crazy?
And Linsey has already said that they're probably going to start letting people use zcoins for pvp armor and items.
But real cash? Gtfo.

Since the release of Prophecies everyone has wanted the next skill balance update, which fixes a few problems and creates others. Might as well face the facts. The game cannot be balanced by adjusting skills with either buffs or nerfs.
What is needed is a complete class redesign at this point. The classes are just worn out is what it amounts to.
ANet knows well that they are wasting their time on a skill balance and will give it a lick and a promise as usual.
